Astrology and Luck

14 Mar

luckWe all need a little luck every now and again and with St. Patrick’s Day coming up I started to think about this – planetary style!  Our Astrological Charts reveal when we will be lucky – or when an opportunity may find us.  Since I’m always eager to find good things in a person’s chart (including my own!) – I love coming across good combinations that could potentially bring something of a benefit to a person.

Natally (the placement of the planets when you were born) speaking, Jupiter and Venus are the greatest “gift-givers.”  When either is sparked in our charts – we could be granted all sorts of opportunities.  I also like to look at a person’s North Node and Part of Fortune – because those bodies also tend to give something beneficial back.  All of the planets (yes even Saturn and Pluto) can deliver opportunities and give us special blessings depending on how they are operating for you at a given time period.

Any luck to be found in your own chart will always depend on all the various placements in your chart.  However – for the most part when any of these “benefics” (as we call them in Astro language) is touched off – something beneficial could be felt.  With that being said- there is a caveat to beneficial sparks coming out in your chart.  Unless we are naturally lucky (and yes some people are just born that way – but most are not!) we’ve got to put in some work in order to reap the benefits of our lucky opportunities.

It’s also important to be open to what an opportunity actually is.  Some opportunities are a lot easier to see than others and sparks don’t always fly when they happen.  For instance if I got a big raise or won the lottery it would be clear that luck finally came around.  However, opportunity can come in other ways too – such as finding some peaceful moments to relax, being in the right place at the right time or meeting someone who helps you in some way.

prep meets opportunity

Following your chart can be incredibly beneficial because it can actually give you a “heads-up” of when your opportunities may find you.  Sometimes if you know they are happening – it may make you think of something awful with a little more positivity.   It can also give you that push to stay the course and continue to put in the hard work – despite feeling the rewards.

Luck will eventually come around for all of us at given points -and when it does you’ll be glad you put in the work beforehand.  Each of the planets could help us over the coming months however my favorite to look at is Jupiter since he moves the quickest.  Jupiter’s currently helping out Gemini, Libra and Aquarius.  Come the end of June – early July – Jupiter will enter Cancer and start helping the water signs (Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces).  So here’s to all of us putting in the hard work and hoping for that lucky break to find us sooner rather than later!

Could Saturn Help You Find What You Really Want In Life?

4 Feb

want you

This question could be laughable to those that have undergone harsh Saturn transits.  Saturn is a planetary force that breaks relationships, creates huge emotional turmoil, presents unruly circumstances and creates tremendous loss.  How could a planet that is so destructive then – help me answer such pivotal life questions?  This is a question that I’ve been thinking about for quite a few months because it’s such a powerful cliché.

I’ve been re-reading some excerpts of “Planets in Transit” from one of my favorite astrologers, Robert Hand and have been thinking about his viewpoint on Saturn.  He writes that “no matter how unpleasant Saturn is to you … he represents what you really want in life AND helps you get it.”  I literally laughed out loud when I thought about that since I’ve seen Saturn’s destruction first hand.  However, he goes on to write that “most people are out of touch with what they really want.”

Did you ever stop for a minute and really think about what you want?  I think that most of us are constantly on the go (yes I’m totally guilty myself!) and neglect to think about what it is you truly want.  Many of us are reactive – to the many things thrown at us on a daily basis rather than proactive.  It’s especially tough when we’re thrown those really large curveballs that stop us in our tracks and Saturn is the planet usually behind that!

So I got to thinking about some of Saturn’s transits in my own chart as well as others.  While I would never want to personally go through them again or see anybody I know partake in that misery – I can say that the changes that ultimately came out of his affects were powerfully positive.  Even though the transits were difficult he did shift things so that better things would come along.  If we really dug deep and were honest about it – we might even admit that we were glad we went through those challenges since we ultimately ended up in a much better place.

Saturn’s moving through Scorpio right now and likely challenging you if you have a lot of planets in this sign.  He’s also creating challenge for those who have planets in Taurus, Aquarius and Leo.  The timing of his arrival in your chart/life depends greatly on your date of birth.  Rather than be fearful of his arrival, I think the thing to think about is where do you want to be when he’s done presenting those challenges.  What is it that you ultimately want and how could these challenges you’re wrapped up in actually get you there?  When it’s all said and done – Saturn may end up bringing the exact answers you’ve been looking for all along.

Laws of Attraction – Planetary Style!

1 Feb

heart

Venus just entered the sign of Aquarius today and be honest this placement isn’t my personal favorite for the planet of love.  Aquarius is a more logical – non intimate – hands off kind of sign.  Matters of the heart are going tend to be much more detached and “free-spirited” as Venus travels through Aquarius. It’s a sign that looks for individuality and can even be a little rebellious.  So you might even find yourself attracted to those “rebels without a cause” or someone unique in nature if you’re playing the dating game.

However, with all that being said we won’t be able to deny our astrological nature – no matter what is going on in the sky at the time we’re always going to be blinded by attraction.   At the moment each of us was born, the planets aligned in such a way which defined our specific laws of attraction.  It’s a very difficult thing to fight who you’re attracted to and if you look back on your picks you’ll likely find a pattern.

Something we will never be able to deny is that opposites attract.  For instance, if you’ve got a ton of water in your chart (Pisces, Scorpio & Cancer) you will always gravitate towards those Fire signs (Aries, Leo & Sagittarius).  The same could be said for the Earth signs (Capricorn, Taurus & Virgo) finding solace in the arms of their challengers the Air signs (Aquarius, Libra & Gemini).  To be honest these signs are not really opposites but rather “conflict” one another in astrological terms.

The planetary laws of attraction work in a way which makes us pursue those that challenge us rather than those that make things easy.  How simple life would be if we were attracted to people that make things easy.  But seriously – where’s the fun in that right?  I’m sure if we look back on our love picks we’d find that the people you liked the most were the ones that challenged you in the greatest way.  Practically speaking however, I know that sometimes the people we are attracted to the most are NOT the right people to be with.

The right person for anyone is going to be someone that not only challenges them – but compliments them at the same time.  So amidst all those challenging zodiacal energies – there’s got to be some easy flowing ones as well.  Here’s a quick reference to the easy flowing energies:

  • Water signs (Pisces, Scorpio & Cancer) compliment Earth (Capricorn, Taurus & Virgo) plus other Water signs
  • Fire signs (Aries, Leo & Sagittarius) compliment Air (Aquarius, Libra & Gemini) plus other Fire signs
  • Earth signs (Capricorn, Taurus & Virgo) compliment Water (Pisces, Scorpio & Cancer) plus other Earth signs
  • Air signs (Aquarius, Libra & Gemini) compliment Fire (Aries, Leo & Sagittarius) plus other Air signs

Taking a look at how your planetary laws of attraction work in your relationships is a fascinating study to say the least! It’s not only about how you operate with other signs but how your planets work with the other person’s planets.  You’ll always find challenges in addition to the compliments but despite WHO you are attracted to – the actual staying power of a relationship is going to be up to other planetary conditions at hand.

Even though you can’t help who you resonate towards because of your planetary laws of attraction – you do have the power within to face up to your challenges, stand up to your weaknesses and ultimately pick a person that you feel fits you best!

Welcome 2013 – Something Good For Everyone!

31 Dec

2013-new-year-What a year 2012 has been for so many of us! The planets certainly aligned in mysterious, challenging and unpredictable ways that ended up affecting a lot of of people.  Some people like to pin-point the toughest challenges to certain signs – but I’d debate anybody on which particular sign felt the upheaval the most.

Through what I’ve seen with all the charts I’ve studied this year – nearly all of the Sun signs were impacted.  It all depended on the particulars of your exact chart as we all have placements in different signs.  No matter what you’ve been through, however, there’s always something to look forward to and that’s the beauty of ringing in the New Year!

We can say good-bye to the challenges as well as be grateful for all the blessings and prosperity we gained in 2012.  Due to the planetary alignments going on, I think a lot of us are shifting our thinking and making us see things differently.  While it’s certainly challenging there are good things that will ultimately come out of the changes we’ve had to make and many of us may start to see the positive effects in 2013.

From Aries to Taurus to Gemini to Cancer to Leo to Virgo to Libra to Scorpio to Sagittarius to Capricorn to Aquarius to Pisces – there will indeed be beneficial planetary alignments that will help ALL of you despite any challenges ahead.  It’s so much more fun to focus on the benefits as we start a fresh new year and be excited for all the good things in store.  Here’s to 2013 and all the benefits it has in store for each and every one of us!

Having Fun With Some “Datastrology”

Finding the Data side of Astrology

I love looking at certain types of data and one of my favorite programs for doing so is Excel.  I’m sure that most of us use it for work purposes but I’m sure a good amount of us also use it to keep track of our finances and personal budgets.  However, I found a neat place to use Excel in my Astrology practice and I thought I’d share since we’re embarking on a new year.

A while ago I actually started taking a look at our Astrological triggers from a data standpoint in order to see trends in a person’s whole year.  I decided to pin it – “Datastrology” since it’s taking your personal data and Astrologizing it!  We use data to analyze many things and gather trends but what a neat concept to use it when it comes to OUR upcoming year. Datastrology could even be used to compare activity from year to you – since we all know some years are much more activity based than others.

Astrology is not a crystal ball but it can very much differentiate active vs. duller periods in your life.  It’s actually pretty neat if you look at your year and see which months are going to be more eventful.  My version of datastrology makes no differentiation between challenging times vs. easier one.  Since we can label planetary triggers as easy vs. challenging you could look at your datastrology to see if there’s a trend of challenge or ease.  What I’ve done below is the easy version.

As an example I used my own chart.  I simply took ALL of my major planetary happenings and put them together to illustrate which times will be more active than others.  It’s actually pretty neat and totally not scary … it just illustrates which months will be more eventful than others.

So here’s my Astrological Activity broken down by month …..

Then a comparison of 2013 to 2012 since I pretty much know what’s already happened in 2012 😉

Finally, here’s the comparison of the year in total and as you can see my 2013 will not be quite as active as 2012 which I’m ok with 🙂

Maybe I’m an Astrologer geek but I do think there’s something pretty neat about taking a look at your life in this way.  It’s totally non-evasive and just allows you to see how active your upcoming year will be.  You could compare any year to another too …. the possibilities are endless!  If you are interested in taking a look at your 2013 Datastrology or just want to hear more about what’s going on in your 2013 email me at info@crystalbastrology.com.

To Be Continued …

6 Jul

Astrology has been one of my best friends for quite some time … but recently I decided to take a bit of a break from him (yes … for some reason I think of Astrology as “male!”)  I love the insight and knowledge that can be gained from looking at all the planetary placements and combinations that are possible at any given moment.  Astrology has brought me much joy in that I’ve been able to use it to help so many people.

However, there comes a time where I think it’s ok for somethings to remain unexplainable.  There will always be an allure to the planets – especially because they can give you a glimmer of what’s in store.  That mystery is the thing that makes them hard to grasp and even harder to understand sometimes.  Even the best Astrologer doesn’t have all the answers – so don’t believe them if they tell you they do 😉

The year 2012 is all about switching things up and I’ve been directly affected by that.  For the moment, I’ve decided to just live for the day and not think about tomorrow too much.   There’s something powerful in just living in the moment – however good or bad it may be.  Tomorrow will always come and I’ve got faith that everything will play out as it’s supposed to for all of us.  S0 for now this story is “To be continued …..” and you never know when our paths might cross again.  As Abraham Lincoln once said, “The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time.”

Beautify NOW or Later? Venus’ Movement Back Could Have an Effect on Your New Do!

3 May

Thinking about a new do … well the planets may have a say in how things turn out with that.  Venus, the planet of beauty, is about to start moving backward or go retrograde.  If you’re thinking about getting a new due, haircut or freshening up your dye job do it ASAP.

It’s really better not to embark upon beautifying type things while the planet of beauty is moving back …. it just tends to mess things up!  I’ve heard too many stories of bad hair cuts/ dye jobs during this period.  Things just tend to go not as you hoped in the “beautifying” department during this time.

Venus starts her movement back on 5/16 and then will start moving forward again in late June.  So the question is … should you beautify now or wait till the end June?  I’m playing it safe and waiting till the end of June to get my new do 😉
